Introduction
Pressure Relief Valves are used in refrigeration and air-conditioning systems to protect the system or individual components integrity when the design pressure rating is exceeded. Used mainly in liquid receivers pressure relief valves are not designed to be used as a high pressure overload. Therefore it is recommended that the pressure relief valve be set at the maximum safe working pressure marked on the vessel regardless of the refrigerant being used.
Mueller SAFETYMASTER® pressure relief valves have been designed and engineered to provide high volume discharge. Mueller‘s pressure relief valves fully satisfy ASHRAE standard 15 code requirements for a refrigerant safety device. They comply with the ASME code for unfired pressure vessels and the discharge rates are certified by the US National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.
Mueller pressure relief valves are suitable for all fluorinated refrigerants and manufactured from solid brass. The seat disc is made from Teflon coated neoprene to create a better seal and eliminates reseat issues associated with solid Teflon seats. Available in a standard range of settings as well as made to order for special applications all Mueller pressure relief valves are sealed with a tamper proof seal and lock wire following final testing and verification .
